KWIS-RR (Roll-to-Roll Inspection) is an inline fabric inspection software paired with a specially engineered vision setup that scans at high speed to detect and record defects in real time. It enables operators to take instant actions (e.g., mending/stop-and-repair), performs live width measurement, and presents real-time inspection info such as inspection meters, total defects, line status, and camera health. Built for continuous web processes, KWIS-RR delivers reliable detection, actionable alerts, and full traceability across rolls and shifts.
User has to configure camera parameters and app settings via the launch file available in app data
Available via KVP because the app has to be launched from KVP
Managed in KVP with support for admin, supervisor, and operator roles
Allows user to add, edit, and delete recipes. Each recipe contains an associated model, and the defect category is automatically assigned based on the model. Users can group recipes, set size sensitivity and thresholds, and if a defect meets the condition, it is not allowed and considered for cut planning. The recipe also includes region continuity and region thresholds
Shows the health of each camera, including its meter and inference time
Shows the health of KWIS PLC and remote PLC
Shows app health status (idle, running, engaged)
Shows the remaining disk space in the system
Shows the total inspected meter and total defects identified
With support from the data compute node and data sync module, the system syncs data to the cloud and displays the Looker dashboard, including inspection data, review data, and repair data
Shows the current measured width live and the time taken
System stores the error logs with code
System records user activity into system logs as an activity
All software and hardware components store the (available, connected, running, fault) states in the component state log
User can enter roll ID, GSM, width, roll weight, roll length, loom ID, layer type before inspection starts
Machine will slow down for defects before the jog distance to stop the defect
Minimum and maximum width tolerance can be specified
Inspection starts and stops based on button press, with roll ID automatically generated from timestamp
Inspection continues from the previous stopped location with the same roll ID
System has an auxiliary encoder that compares with the software meter and generates an alert if variation is found
If communication fails between PC and PLC, the system retries three times; if still not connected, it generates an alert
If the software cannot store data into the database, it retries three times; if still not connected, it generates an alert
System gives a beep when a defect is identified
Red light is shown constantly when the system is stopped until the user acknowledges
System sends SMS alerts for critical defects to specified numbers
System generates a popup when storage on the master system is nearly full
The fabric map updates in real time, showing each camera and its covered region. It also displays region planning with projected body lines, camera and stop positions, and defect locations mapped to the real world
Machine stops at defects for repair at the specified location
Machine stops at width variations for analysis at the specified location
